Classification of new medical technologies and ethical considerations related to them

This paper explores the technological trends in life forms within the context of new medical technologies. It discusses the distinctions between concepts such as “life modification,” “artificial life,” and “artificial humans,” as well as the ethical boundaries associated with these concepts. Through conceptual analysis and drawing on the ideas presented in the science fiction novel “Mother Code,” this paper constructs a progressive ethical framework that encompasses issues ranging from “reconstruction within species” to “engineering mechanisms for life creation” up to “defining normative subjects.” The study reveals that the ethical issues raised by different technological developments tend to shift from concerns related to risk control to questions regarding the legitimacy and norms surrounding such technologies.
