In the News This National Law Review article interviews EMDRIA Member and Certified Therapist ™ Kimberly Hernandez about why “EMDR Therapy Sees Major Growth as More Adults Seek Non-Medication Trauma Recovery Options .” ABC Australia News article “ Victim-survivors of alleged sexual abuse speak out on legal impact of receiving EMDR therapy ” reports the story of an Australian woman, Tess Hassell who is speaking out in defense of EMDR therapy after she received relief from it, but was told her court testimony would be denied because she had undergone EMDR therapy. Hassell states: “EMDR is an evidence-based, Medicare-funded therapy, and on that I was essentially denied justice.” Hassell was moved to speak out after reading the similar story of Katie Bird, whose court case was also discontinued after the court discovered she had undergone EMDR therapy to heal. EMDRIA Member, Certified Therapist ™, and Approved Consultant™ Rotem Brayer, LPC is interviewed in this Turkish blog on “the present and the new frontiers in EMDR.” This Iowa-based news article in the Le Mars Sentinel highlights grant money awarded to the Plains Area Mental Health Center for “the purchase of materials and equipment for EMDR therapy, ” alongside other effective trauma treatments. EMDR therapy is highlighted in The Tennessean press release and features EMDRIA Member, Certified Therapist ™, Approved Consultant™, and Trainer™ Debra Wesselmann, LIMHP , who describes the impact of trauma and EMDR therapy’s efficacy for trauma. Psychiatry Online highlights a personal account, “ What Integration Actually Felt Like: A Psychologist’s Lived Experience of Dissociative Identity Disorder, ” in which psychologist Adrian Fletcher undergoes EMDR therapy among other trauma treatments and chronicles their lived experience of dissociative identity disorder, describing their unfolding understanding of integrative healing. EMDR therapy is listed as an evidence-based professional treatment for law enforcement officers in this Law Enforcement Today article “ PTSD and the Reality of the Job: What Officers Need to Know, ” destigmatizing PTSD.
